Myself in Sorrento :)

Ciao friends!

Your adventure in Rome + somewhere along the beautiful Mediterranean coast is about to come true! I say โ€œsomewhereโ€ because, as per our Zoom meeting, we came up with a couple of ideas for post-Rome coastal exploration. Iโ€™ll create a few options for you to review before we commit to the actual after-Rome location ;)

This is our tourโ€™s dedicated page. Any planning and itinerary updates will be posted here (in addition to via our email thread). I will also create a WhatsApp group with all of us as members (please download WhatsApp for best communication).

First things first! Iโ€™ll await payment from each of you via VENMO (my handle is @AliceFalzone) in the amount of $1,500 per person in order to reserve your spot in this tour. Iโ€™ll then show you Version1 (V.1) of our plans while in italia together. We can either have another Zoom to talk about it in person, or we can chat about it via email. Usually, we go through 2 or 3 versions before we have our perfect tour. I look forward to making it happen! <3 <3 <3

GRAZIE!
See you soon!

~ Alice

CASH IS KING IN ITALY!

* Order Euro currency at your local bank *

I recommend you order around 500EURO currency at your local US bank (Alternatively, bring your Debit Card to Italy; we will take a trip to a big reputable bank here, for you to take Euro cash out - Make sure you set up a Travel Advisory with your US bank). It takes a week or so for your US bank to get the Euros, so make sure it's well before your departure date. Your bank will exchange your Dollars into Euro at the current rate with minimal to no surcharge. There are airport money exchange kiosks in Italy, but I donโ€™t recommend them as their fees are incredibly high. You will need this cash for personal expenses, admission tickets, tipping your guides, drivers, servers and for your own meals and shopping. Cash is KING in Italy!

SHOPPING TRICK:

* You should pack a big empty bag in your luggage *

Thatโ€™s right! I predict youโ€™ll find gorgeous clothes, bags, other items, food, olive oils, etc during out travels togetherโ€ฆ you will most likely want to take them back to the US with you. I always have a foldable duffle bag inside my actual luggage. Having no issue with luggage space, is key to a fabulous shopping spree while traveling! ;)

BRING MEDICINES!

* Remember any medication you may need *

While we do have stocked pharmacies here in Italy, it is your responsibility to bring your prescription (and non-prescription) medicines (such as allergy pills). Brand names differ here from the ones in the US (which may create confusion) and some of our off the shelf meds are prescription only here. So come prepared. Always travel with more than the usual daily regimen of medicines, just in case there are flight delays.

ON INSTAGRAM:

As you document your adventure with us on your smartphone, please tag your images with your hashtag #Divora2027 and please link/tag @DivoraDestinations as well. Thank you so much!

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

* Please purchase Travel Insurance *

This is so very important and required as it covers any emergency expenses you might need while abroad. I am your organizer, but there is only so much I can do in case of major emergencies (or if airlines lose your luggage). It is your responsibility to be safe, wear a mask, be vaccinated and have a way to cover any emergency via your own travel insurance.

Use our Travel Insurance Comparison Tool, choose the coverage that best suits you, and click to purchase it. It is well worth it, and more affordable than you might think!

PHONE & INTERNET IN ITALY:

Please contact your mobile phone provider to activate an international plan for data and voice. AT&T, Verizon, TMobile, etcโ€ฆ all have a โ€œtravel to Italyโ€ phone option. It is important that you can contact me anytime from anywhere, in case anything happens. Also, you will need Google Maps to navigate during your free time. So please get internet and phone on your mobile devices before traveling to Italy.

GROUP TEXTING IN ROME:

* WhatsApp is the way to communicate abroad as a group
* Download the WHATSAPP app on your phone
* Enter my USA number in the app: (503) 989-8968
* Send me a WhatsApp message to confirm

Download WhatsApp for iPhone
Download WhatsApp for Android

OTHER KEY CONTACTS:

BUDGET FRIENDLY OPTION TO CONSIDER:

Reduced fee of $600 per person (2 location option):

Should you want to travel on your own as a group, I am happy to create a comprehensive itinerary with all of the items listed from 1 to 3 above included. The only difference is that I would not be joining you on the tour. I would do all of the research and development of the tour, but you would be the ones to follow the itinerary yourselves. This saves on budget constraints, of course, but it may be a bit stressful to be alone in a foreign country. From the list above: included is 1 to 3, not included is 4 to 11. Just a second option for you to consider, just in case.

Archaeology, History & Activities

(In progress)

Rome:

  • The Eternal City is an open air museum. You donโ€™t have to take any archaeological/historical tours with guides to be amazed at the layers of history and beauty here (just walk around and look!) :) Though I highly recommend guided hour or two tours with an expert guide for things like the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Domus Aurea, the Castel Santโ€™ Angelo, the Catacombs and moreโ€ฆ so that you may learn lots of the history of each place

  • The most known typical foods of Rome are the โ€œrecentโ€ dishes (from one hundred or so years ago) known the world over: Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana and Griciaโ€ฆ But Roma has so much more culinary delight to offer! We are known for our โ€œpoor manโ€™s food cuisineโ€ which utilizes (since Roman times), ox tails, tripe, tongue and other not so fancy meats. We have grown to perfect cooking them into delicious typical Roman dishes which you are welcome to try :)

  • Romeโ€™s wine region is a 20 minute train ride to the east called Castelli Romani (with the main village on the hill called Frascati). Ancient Romans have been growing Cesanese grapes here and have been making wine (for 2000+ years). We will be enjoying a cooking class here AND the familyโ€™s wine too
